Transforming Lives

Transforming Lives
Transforming Communities
What is it?
TRANSFORMING LIVES is the start of a journey. It includes a programme of events and series of resources, put together by people from Wakefield Diocese for the churches of the diocese. It looks at how we can be involved in transforming God's world and God's people. In reality this involves a process which looks first at building a vision of a God who makes a difference and moving on to help people live out their faith in their daily lives and firing them up to make a difference in their homes, workplaces and local communities.
When does it start?
In Lent 2008 and running through to Pentecost 2009 and beyond!
Study Materials/Bible Notes have been produced for Lent 2008
Schools-Acts of Collective Worship have been devised as one off stand alone deliveries or as 5 weekly inputs during Lent. There are separate packages for Key Stage One and Key Stage Two and each relates to the weekly gospel reading.
Children and Young People-There is a pack which provides five sessions linked to the readings in the adult study material, together with additional material for Mothering Sunday and Good Friday. The material is split into different age groups however it can also be used across the age ranges with minimal adaptation.
What about after Easter 2008?
There are a variety of opportunities to explore ways of transforming God's world and people-here are a few to watch out for:
Deanery Celebrations in May 2008
Spiritual Direction an offer to parishes of faith sharing sessions for groups or individuals facilitated by a helper
Training Opportunities will be available covering a range of topics-further information will follow in the New Year.
Looking Further Forward…
Group Study: There will be opportunities for further study in Advent 2008 and Lent 2009
Parish Planning: A resource pack available from November 2008 to help parishes plan how they would like to see transformation for themselves and their community.
Pentecost-ish A diocesan gathering to re-commission people for fresh commitment to encounter with God and making a making a difference in the world.
