Parent and Toddlers

The group was set up from scratch in February 2006 and runs weekly during school term time on Thursday morning from 9.45 am to 11.15 am in the Church Hall. A small team of other mums from the congregation help the leaders run the sessions. One of the leaders is a trained children's nursery nurse and ensures that the group embraces best practice in all areas. On average 40 parents and their toddlers attend each week.
To differentiate from other similar groups, we have a sand pit, slide and various ride-on toys, as well as building blocks, a home corner and two craft tables.
Members of the Mothers Union help with preparing drinks and snacks. Fair trade products are used for the snacks and drinks for both children and parents in return for a modest admission charge. A modest surplus arises, which is used to purchase new toys, towards providing end-of term parties in the Summer and at Christmas, and the remaining surplus donated to Church funds.
The group hopes to offer something for both Toddlers and Parents. Being a new Parent can be quite daunting, and it is easy to become isolated. The group offers friendship and support for Mums or Dads who have primary carer responsibility.
